Today, Delta Air Lines has made two announcements that allow SkyMiles members to earn status easier and get more miles on premium tickets.
Delta has decided to remove the 75,000 SkyMiles earning cap on its tickets retroactive from January 1, 2022, and make the temporary program feature of earning elite qualifying miles. segments, and dollars on award tickets permanent.

Starting March 31, the ability to earn toward Medallion Status on Delta-marketed Award Travel will become a permanent feature of the program. Delta is also removing the 75,000 mileage earn cap, retroactive starting Jan. 1, 2022 – an industry-leading move that will give SkyMiles Members unlimited earning potential.

Conclusion
Moving to dynamic earnings while capping the number of miles earned per ticket was a blunder, and I am glad that Delta has rectified it. Allowing SkyMiles members to earn permanently elite qualifying miles, segments, and dollars on award tickets is good.
