American Airlines and World of Hyatt have returned a popular campaign that touches on their existing partnership with reciprocal benefits and now allows AAdvantage Elite Tier members to fast track to a higher World of Hyatt level.
American Airlines Elite Tiers can match (to Explorist) and then fast track towards a higher level with World of Hyatt which might be very lucrative for some.
When utilizing this promotion, eligible AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro and Concierge Key members will be able to fast track to higher Hyatt tiers.
You can access the registration page with Hyatt here.
Register to earn higher World of Hyatt status
Now that your American Airlines AAdvantage® account is linked [you can do so here] to your World of Hyatt account, you can enjoy the benefits of World of Hyatt Explorist status for 90 days after you register for this offer. With over 1,100 locations and 25+ brands to choose from, you can explore the world-class amenities of Hyatt Regency hotels, the local culture of Thompson Hotels, the cutting-edge design of Andaz hotels and more.
- Register by November 30, 2022, to receive World of Hyatt Explorist status for 90 days
- Complete 10 qualifying nights within 90 days (typically requires 30 in a calendar year) after registration and earn Explorist status through February 2024
I’m just a low AAdvantage Lifetime Gold at this point as I haven’t put any effort into the program anymore in recent years and in my case I’m being offered Hyatt Explorist for 90 days upfront, combined with a 10-night Fast Track:
No higher tier level is being offered to me at this time. Of course, in my case the entire offer is pointless as I’m already Globalist through February 2024.
In the past, eligible Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members are able to fast track towards AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, or Platinum Pro status. This doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment, my AAdvantage account doesn’t display these AA Fast Track promotions anymore despite being a Globalist.
The campaign requires registration until November 30, 2022 and then the member has another 90 days to complete the challenge/fast track.
From the looks of it and based on some social media travel groups I’m in, it seems that the offer for most members is:
- Maintain World of Hyatt Explorist status -> earn 10 qualifying nights
- Earn World of Hyatt Globalist status -> stay 20 qualifying nights
Any Hyatt Milestone Bonuses such as free nights and upgrades aren’t applicable unless achieved with the full amount of nights required.
You’d earn one milestone award, such as a Free Night (Cat 1-4) on the 30th night (and some rather useless Club Access Awards beforehand).
This promotion was already available in 2021 when both programs suffered an exodus of Elite members as a result of the pandemic.
Conclusion
Hyatt and American Airlines build on their partnership they started a few years ago, which already allows simultaneous collection of points/miles for spending on the other partner through a double dipping system.
Now eligible AAdvantage members can register for a free status upgrade and tier challenge promotion that allows them to earn status on either partner more easily.
These are the Terms & Conditions for this promotion:
To qualify for this offer, you must be an AAdvantage® Gold or Platinum member who has already successfully linked your AAdvantage® account to your World of Hyatt® account (“Eligible Member”). To participate in this offer, Eligible Members must register between August 23 and November 30, 2022, through the dedicated offer registration page provided by Hyatt.
Upon registration, the Eligible Member will receive a trial upgrade to Explorist status for 90 days (“Explorist Trial Period”). The trial will provide the member with the benefits of Explorist status, as set forth in the World of Hyatt program terms, provided that the member will not receive any Club Lounge Access Awards (as defined in the World of Hyatt program terms) or be eligible to tier match into Gold status with MGM Rewards, the loyalty program of MGM Resorts International, as part of the trial. To maintain Explorist status through February 2024, the member must complete ten (10) Tier-Qualifying Nights (as defined in the World of Hyatt program terms) at any participating Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide, participating MGM Resorts destinations, Small Luxury Hotels of the World (“SLH”) hotels, or Lindblad Expeditions.
Only Tier-Qualifying Nights completed by the member during the member’s Explorist Trial Period will count toward this offer. Stays completed by the member prior to the start of their Explorist Trial Period will not count towards this offer (even if any night stayed otherwise qualifies as a Tier-Qualifying Night). Further, in order for Tier-Qualifying Nights completed during the member’s Explorist Trial Period to count toward this offer, the member must check out of their reservation during their Explorist Trial Period. If the member checks in to a reservation during their Explorist Trial Period, but does not check out until after the Explorist Trial Period has ended, no nights stayed as part of that reservation will count toward this offer. Explorist Trial Period begins at registration and may not be extended. World of Hyatt Credit Card night credits do not qualify as Tier-Qualifying Nights.
If the member earns Explorist status through February 2024 by completing the criteria above, their new status will be applied within 7 business days of checkout of the stay during which they complete the applicable requirements.
Limit one such offer each calendar year per Eligible Member except as otherwise provided. Hyatt reserves the right to alter or withdraw this offer at any time without notice. This offer is subject to the complete terms and conditions of the World of Hyatt program, available at worldofhyatt.com/terms. Additional American Airlines terms and conditions apply, including the AAdvantage® terms and conditions and American Airlines’ terms and conditions relating to the AAdvantage® and World of Hyatt promotion.
