Singapore Airlines had a promotion this fall for bonus miles for conversions from select banking programs (read more here) that you were able to combine with earning elite miles (read more here) for partner transactions. The latter offer won’t expire before February 28, 2022.
I decided to convert some banking program points from the HSBC that I had accrued over several years (only three conversion partner options of CX/BA/SQ) and move just enough to not qualify for KrisFlyer Gold before a small transaction in late 2022. But I miserably failed!

What was posted to my account since the last piece:
I calculated that I only needed 35 additional elite qualifying miles by October 31, 2022. My goal was to get these credited in September/October 2022.
I was wrong, however, as several readers noted. I tend to read the FAQs and T&Cs carefully but didn’t do it here. I failed to note that the bonus award miles from conversions are also eligible for the partner program elite qualifying miles boost, but with a delay.

There was an addition of 7,470 elite qualifying miles to my account yesterday that reset the qualification period. I now would need another 50,000 elite qualifying miles by December 31, 2022, to earn it for an additional year.

I always stress that it is essential to carefully read the T&Cs and FAQs, as they often contain information not adequately disclosed on offer pages, and I failed to do that.
The downside of this is that I could have converted fewer points to SQ, as KrisFlyer miles have a hard expiry of 36 months since they were earned that can be extended for a limited period once for a modest payment.
KrisFlyer miles are excellent if you wish to find award availability on SQ’s business and first-class cabins that are often blocked from partners. I just hate how bad the interface is to book Star Alliance partner awards. 99% of the time, nothing shows up.
