Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) Discovery program went through a refresh at the end of 2021. GHA has launched its first promotion that utilizes their new loyalty program currency called Discovery Dollars (D$).
Some, if not all elite members of Discovery, have received an email overnight offering them some D$, in my instance D$50, that must be claimed by January 15 and is valid for three months after issuance.
You can access GHA Discovery here.
I clicked through the email, and the page suggests that the bonus D$ is added to accounts in early 2022.
The bonus D$ validity is then hidden on the email’s T&Cs stating that they are valid for three months after issues.
Conclusion
GHA tries to get members to stay at their affiliated hotels and test how easy it is to use their earned D$ towards settling part of the stay.
Theoretically, hotels should be able to offset any folio expenses at the time of check out using the D$ that you have in your account.
