Finnair has launched a new campaign to get its frequent-flier members to book trips for travel through August 31, 2022.
Finnair Plus members earn double award and tier points on CLASSIC and FLEX tickets, LIGHT fares excluded, booked January 4 – 11.
You can access this offer on Finnair’s page here.
Here’s the information that Finnair has released about this offer:
Kick off your new year with our incredible campaign! When you book Classic or Flex tickets for Finnair operated or marketed flights between 4–11 January, you will receive double Finnair Plus award and tier points. Make sure your travel date is between 4 January and 31 August 2022 to get the double points.
The amount of points you’ll earn depends on the ticket type and route. For example, normally you earn 12,000 points for an Economy Flex ticket to the USA but if you book your ticket during this campaign period, you’ll earn 24,000 points. Don’t miss out and book your flights now!
Under ‘Points from Finnair flights’ below you can see the tables with detailed point amounts. Please keep in mind the points in the tables are the amount you usually earn outside the campaign period. To find out the point amount you’ll get when booking flights between 4–11 January, just double the amounts shown below!
Finnair Plus Earning Tables:
Note that these are DOUBLED for the duration of the promotion, excluding Business and Economy Light fares.
With Ticket Type
*Including destinations in Finland as well as Copenhagen, Gdansk, Gothenburg, Krakow, Moscow, Oslo, Reykjavik, Riga, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Tallinn, Tartu, Vilnius and Warsaw.
You have to be careful not to buy LIGHT fares if you prefer earning the double award and tier points when you book fares with ticket types.
Without Ticket Type
*Including destinations in Finland as well as Copenhagen, Gdansk, Gothenburg, Krakow, Moscow, Oslo, Reykjavik, Riga, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Tallinn, Tartu, Vilnius and Warsaw.
If your ticket doesn’t include a ticket type, your earnings are doubled in all fare classes.
Conclusion
If you book on Finnair’s website, it is clear what ticket types you are purchasing. It is not necessarily the same if you book on an OTA such as Expedia or Orbitz.
By excluding LIGHT fares, Finnair forces you to book more expensive tickets, and you essentially pay for the additional tier and award points.
