A LoyaltyLobby reader dropped us a note about a fabulous breakfast at a Best Western Plus hotel in the United States.
It is difficult to understand how a Best Western Plus hotel can get it right when many Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott hotels struggle to provide an adequate breakfast for elite members in the same country?
Here’s the email from the reader:
Breakfast was such a pleasant surprise at the Best Western Plus Palm Desert Resort. Guests can choose a number of items from a menu that are cooked fresh to order right off the grill. It was wonderful and almost like having a Diner or Breakfast restaurant on site where you could order whatever items you wanted included with the price of your stay. There was a bit of a line but they were cooking up things on the skillet so fast I placed an order and had my food in no time.
The menu had the following choices however you could basically order whatever you wanted from what they had listed on there:
Items served with coffee (regular or decaf), hot tea, juice and milk or soy milk.
1. Two Egg Breakfast – Two eggs any style. Two slices of bacon or sausage. Hash browns and Toast.
2. Pancake Breakfast – Three Pancake Stack, Two slices of bacon or sausage.
3. Healthy Start – Yogurt, Granola and choice of an apple or banana.
4. Cold Cereal Breakfast – Corn Flakes or Raisin Bran and choice of an
apple or banana.5. Hot Oatmeal Breakfast – Oatmeal with Raisins and brown sugar.
6. Continental Breakfast – Danish, Bagels and choice of an apple or banana.
Ever since Covid started hotels have been using the pandemic as an excuse to cut back on breakfast and in some extremes providing just a few items like a granola bar and a juice box in a paper bag. It’s
great to see a property in the Best Western portfolio going above and beyond what many higher tier hotels are doing in the Hyatt, Marriott and Hilton portfolio.
Overall the hotel itself is an older property that could use some renovations and improvements such as the doors that were fairly thin and let in some of the noise from outside. Having said that, the rooms and the property were kept very clean. And after an amazing breakfast you quickly forget about some of the small things on the property that could use a refresh.
Conclusion
Best Western Rewards has become a good program for various never-ending bonus offers that you have been able to combine for the past 12 or so months. The breakfast looks rather fabulous especially considering that this is a Best Western Plus hotel.
