Disney fans, your kitchens have probably seen a long list of Disney copycat recipes, and your family has spent hours on virtual rides.

If you’re ready to go to the park, the gates are open—Magic Kingdom, Epcot and the other parks are up and running! But you might notice that the experience has changed a bit. Expect more cleaning, physical distancing and reduced attendance to help make the parks run safely. The latest change at Disney World is an update on masks—now face coverings are only required in most areas, but not all.

If you’ve been planning a trip to Disney since the parks reopened last July, here’s everything you need to know about the mask rules.

What Is the Disney Mask Policy Now?

If you want to enter the parks, Disney still requires all guests ages two and up to wear a mask. Other areas where masks are required include theaters throughout the parks, transportation and restaurants, unless visitors are seated and actively enjoying their Dole whip.

However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently announced that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask in most situations. Disney recently announced that masks are now optional in the parks’ outdoor common areas. Of course, social distancing still applies, but if you need a breather, you can safely take off your mask.

To keep everyone safe and every experience magical, park officials continue to enforce the proper use of masks in areas where they’re required. Be sure to check out the official Disney website to stay up-to-date on the mask policy rules before you travel.

How to Make DIY Masks for the Family

Bored with the disposable face masks? Well, you can make matching Disney-themed ones for your entire family before your vacation! You’ll need minimal materials that you’re bound to have around the house—thread and needle, rubber bands and an iron. Just pick out your fabric and follow the instructions in our step-by-step guide.
